I think the universe is against me, and my writing projects keep getting derailed

Positivity Filter

POSITIVITY FILTER@2x

The Context

Have you ever felt like the universe seemed to orchestrate its energies to thwart your efforts? It's an infuriating experience. You feel helpless. As if the world was coordinating the ideal conditions to prevent you from reaching your goal, creating a web of incidents and meetings and material assistance whose sole purpose in life is to hold you back. This is a common nightmare for a lot of people, myself included. Your dream self is trying to execute a simple and routine task, like going to your regularly scheduled chemistry class. But everything stands in your way. People keep interrupting you in the hall, and the bell rings before you get there. It's this sick form of reverse providence, and it’s the worst.

Positivity Filter

POSITIVITY FILTER — Increasing your field of vision to allow you to better notice the opportunities that lead to success

What challenge could you potentially overcome by starting with a positivity filter, if only to expand your field of vision? Personally, this tool can profoundly impact your creative work. With each new task, job or job, your positivity filter intentionally opens you to new possibilities. Always seeking new formats of collaborating, new avenues of creating value, and new ways of earning money. Trying new strategies doesn't always net profitable outcomes, but it shifts your experience, which only increases the probability of success. If you feel like the universe is orchestrating energies to thwart your creative efforts, maybe you need a new filter. Because if you have a negative attitude about your work, you won’t get better, because you won’t do the necessary research on the resources that will make you better. You never find the solution that leads to the solution. That’s the physical and procedural manifestation of a negativity, he said. Mindset might not affect your outcome, but it does affect your experience.

Scott's Take

Scott's Take

My old coworker was like this in her waking life. She magnetized everything that was bad. From physical injuries to toxic relationships to subway delays to constant sickness, her daily existence was like a magnetic field ordering iron filings of shit. To make it worse, she constantly complained about how many bad things happened to her. She relished hurling into work each day and regaling our team with yet another dramatic story about her latest public transportation mishap. As if this perpetual chaos forced itself into her life, and she was helplessly stuck with it. Her mind was permanently tuned in to this toxic frequency, and it only reinforced the bad experiences. Question is, was she cursed? Born under a bad sign where the stars were aligned against her from birth? Or was she sabotaging herself in order to return to a more comfortable and familiar state of misery? Probably some combination of all three. If you've ever worked with someone like this before, you might agree.

The Rest

Personal creativity management is systematic, but also spiritual. There are things in the universe that are connected in ways you don't understand, which that there are useful strategies for influencing your work that you are not taking advantage of. It's not about mind over matter, it’s about using your mind to allow more things to matter, so you can expose yourself to the best solution. Optimism, positivity, these attitudes will not increase your success, but they will increase your field of vision, and that will allow you to better notice the opportunities that lead to success. How could positive intentions define reality in a more direct way than you ever imagined possible?
